A Creative Connected Community

From Art Colony to Arts Community

Art Alliance Brown County fosters opportunities that benefit artists, arts organizations and the larger community. Member artists are supported in their professional development and in turn give back—through exhibits, workshops and events—experiences that bring together artists, collectors, and the public.

The Brown County Art Colony

The Arts have a long history in Brown County dating back to the early 1900s when artists gathered here to paint the scenic hills. Equally inspired by the area's beauty, today's artists find more freedom in both expression and the mediums they use. What both groups share is their motivation to grow as artists and to promote the arts locally, regionally and nationally.

Our Member Artists

The original Brown County Art Colony was known for paintings, ceramics and textiles—mediums that remain well-represented today. This rich history continues to influence today's painters, potters, jewelers, basket makers, weavers and glass artists.

Art Alliance Brown County has over thirty members working in a variety of mediums and subject matter. Like the early artists, their work can be found in homes and galleries across the country.
